The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has announced that a record 2,030,627 candidates have registered for this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME.
This marks the highest number of registrations in the history of the examination, as stated in the board’s weekly bulletin released in Abuja on Monday.
Registration for the 2025 UTME closed on March 8, surpassing last year’s figure of over 1.9 million candidates. The total does not include those who registered for foreign centres.

In addition, 200,115 candidates have signed up for the optional mock UTME, scheduled for April 5, 2025.
JAMB also highlighted the implementation of several new measures to combat exam malpractice, which have already resulted in multiple arrests of candidates attempting to use forged A-level results.
The board urged candidates to follow all exam rules and regulations to maintain the integrity of the process.
