Governor Mai Mala Buni has approved the employment of 267 health technicians to strengthen manpower in Yobe State’s health sector.

The move aims to enhance medical service delivery across hospitals and healthcare centers in the state.

A significant portion of the newly employed personnel consists of 140 Buni Scholars who recently completed medical studies in India.

Among them are 43 BSc Nursing, 43 BSc Pharmacy, 22 BSc Medical Laboratory Science, 24 BSc Radiology, seven BSc Optometry, and one BSc Public Health graduates. These scholars have been placed on the Consolidated Health Salary Structure 8.

In addition, 127 health technicians who had been serving as volunteers in state health institutions have also been officially employed. These technicians, who graduated earlier but had not secured formal employment, will now work under CONHESS 6/2.

Governor Buni’s administration has consistently prioritized medical workforce expansion. Over the past five years, graduates from Shehu Sule College of Nursing and Midwifery have been offered automatic employment to bridge gaps in healthcare delivery.

The government’s commitment to healthcare infrastructure is evident in the establishment of primary healthcare centers across all political wards in the state. These centers were set up to bring essential medical services closer to communities, particularly in rural areas.

Four General Hospitals in Gashua, Potiskum, Geidam, and Buni Yadi have been upgraded to specialist hospitals, further improving medical care.

Additionally, eight primary health centers have been transformed into General Hospitals, ensuring broader access to healthcare.

The Yobe State Teaching Hospital has also received modern medical equipment, reinforcing efforts to provide top-tier healthcare services.

These initiatives reflect the administration’s dedication to making quality medical care both accessible and affordable.

With the latest employment approval, healthcare facilities in Yobe are expected to operate more efficiently, reducing the burden on existing personnel and improving patient care across the state.
