A former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, led a delegation of prominent politicians, including Nasir el-Rufai and Aminu Tambuwal, on a visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari in Kaduna on Friday.
The visit, which took place during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, was confirmed in a statement issued by Atiku Abubakar’s Media Office. It was noted that Atiku, a presidential candidate for the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in the 2023 elections, had been in Adamawa State participating in Sallah activities before the delegation visited Buhari at his residence in Kaduna.

The delegation also included former Governor of Benue State, Senator Gabriel Suswan; former Governor of Imo State, Chief Achike Udenwa; Senator Idris Umar; Hon. Mohammed Kumalia; Captain Yahaya Abubakar; Alhaji Musa Halilu (Dujima Adamawa); and Alhaji Salisu Makarfi.
The statement also mentioned that the visit came amidst growing speculation about political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections. A recent visit by governors from the All Progressives Congress, APC, to Buhari had fueled rumors about the possible revival of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), the party founded by Buhari that later merged to form the APC.
After the visit, the delegation joined Buhari at the Friday Juma’ah prayer in Kaduna.
