The Secretary to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Mrs. Rose Oriaran-Anthony, has commended the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, FCT Chapter, for its efforts in promoting relevance and professionalism within the public relations industry in Nigeria.

Oriaran-Anthony made the remarks during a solidarity visit to the chapter’s new secretariat in Abuja, where she was received by members of the executive led by Chief Alaba Yusuf.

A Fellow of the Institute herself, Oriaran-Anthony praised the chapter’s leadership for initiating impactful programmes that have empowered public relations practitioners to bring greater value to their respective organisations. She highlighted the significant progress made under the leadership of the current Chairman, Mr. Ogadigo, noting that the chapter’s profile had been elevated significantly within a short time.

“We see what you are doing, hear what you are doing, and are here to tell you that we are proud of you,” she said. “Through quality initiatives, you have taken the profile of NIPR-FCT to a higher level.”

She added that the growing relevance of the Institute is now attracting more individuals who want to be associated with its work. Oriaran-Anthony also applauded the chapter’s emphasis on capacity building, stressing that it is crucial for cultivating strong reputations within organisations.

In his response, Mr. Ogadigo expressed appreciation for Oriaran-Anthony’s professionalism and excellence in her role at INEC, noting that she has shown that women are fully capable of holding high offices and delivering results.

“As an Institute, we closely follow the work of our members,” he said. “We are proud of the professional manner with which you execute your duties. It gives us great joy to have someone with competence, character, and professionalism in such a sensitive national position.”

Ogadigo also commended her humility and continued engagement with the activities of the chapter, encouraging other members to remain actively involved in the affairs of the Institute and support its development.
