The Ife Development Board, representing indigenes of Ife in Osun State, has called for justice following the tragic death of Kunle Adeniji, the Director of Administration for the All-Progressives Congress, APC.
Adeniji was killed by kidnappers. The demand for justice was made in a statement issued by Gbenga Adefaye, President of the Ife Development Board, on Friday.
Adefaye expressed deep sorrow over Adeniji’s untimely death, describing him as a dedicated public servant and community leader. He was a vital member of the APC until his tragic demise.
“The Ife Development Board is deeply saddened by the death of Hon. Kunle Adeniji, who tragically lost his life in the hands of kidnappers,” Adefaye said.
“His death is a dark day for our community, and we mourn the loss of a man whose legacy of service and leadership greatly contributed to the advancement of Ife.”

Adefaye added that the community had been holding out hope for Adeniji’s safe return, but were devastated to learn of his death. In honor of his contributions, the Ife Development Board has declared a three-day mourning period, during which all activities will be suspended.
The statement went on to highlight Adeniji’s significant role in the community. A founding member of the National Ife Descendants Students Association in the 1980s, Adeniji played a key role in the development of the association, which remains a cornerstone of the community.
He also served as Chairman of Ife Central Local Government and as an Administrative Officer at Obafemi Awolowo University, where he earned respect for his work ethic and commitment to public service. Prior to his kidnapping, he was serving as the Director of Administration at APC Headquarters.
The Ife Development Board also expressed concerns over the rising security challenges in Nigeria, emphasizing that Adeniji’s kidnapping and subsequent death were a stark reminder of the nation’s urgent need to address security issues. They called for the swift identification and prosecution of those responsible for the crime.
Adefaye also extended condolences on behalf of the Ife community to Adeniji’s family, friends, and all those affected by the loss. “May Allah forgive his sins and grant him Aljannah Firdaus, and may He grant comfort to his loved ones during this difficult time,” he added.
A condolence register has been opened at the Oba Okunade Sijuwade Memorial Hall in Ile-Ife, where members of the community can pay their respects.
