Donald Trump repeatedly boasted about his health while mocking his predecessor Joe Biden as being mentally unfit. The 78-year-old Republican is an avid golfer who abstains from alcohol and smoking.
Donald Trump, the oldest elected US president, will on Friday undergo his first annual medical examination since he returned to the White House.
“I have never felt better, but nevertheless, these things must be done!” the president, who was 78-year-old when taking office for the second time in January, said on his Truth Social platform earlier this week.
Trump has repeatedly boasted about his vigor since returning to office while also mocking his predecessor, 82-year-old Joe Biden, as being mentally unfit for the job.
But he has also been accused of a lack of openness about his own health.
While Trump is a prolific golfer who abstains from alcohol and cigarettes, he is also known to indulge in fast food and famously enjoys his steaks well-done.
What do we know about Trump’s medical exam?
Donald Trump was scheduled undergo his medical examination at Walter Reed military hospital near Washington.
The examination is expected to last around five hours.
It was not immediately clear when the results would be released, or how detailed they would be.
Afterwards, Trump is set to head to Joint Base Andrews where he will then fly to Mar-a-Lago to spend the weekend, according to the White House.
