President Donald Trump‘s approval rating has hit a new low in his second term as he continues to face backlash over tariffs.

The 78-year-old president is feeling the pressure of his economic decisions that violently overturned the stock market and threatened to drastically increase the cost of living for Americans.

A new survey found that 51 percent of Americans disapprove of Trump, while 43 percent approve, an Economist/YouGov poll found. This puts his net approval at negative 8, which is down five points since last week.

The Republican is also down 14 points since he took office in January, where he came in with his highest approval rating, the poll found.

However, the busy president’s approval rating matches where he was at during his first term.

The lower rating he had during his first term was negative 21, which was toward the end of his first year.

Former President Joe Biden, on the other hand, was at a positive 9 at this point during his presidency. His lowest rating was during his fourth year as the US leader, where he hit a low of negative 23, the poll showed.

In trend with his current downward rating, Trump is also seeing more citizens having an unfavorable view of him.

In the last two weeks, five percent more Americans began viewing MAGA leader unfavorably, the poll found, going up from 49 to 54 percent.

Trump voters alone have dropped their approval rating from 91 percent to 85 percent in the same two-week period.

Most of the backlash Trump has been facing is due to his policy that are affecting Americans economically, with 51 percent of Americans disapproving his handling on the economy, the poll found.

Additionally, 55 percent don’t like how he’s handling prices and inflation, as the US leader had promised cheaper egg prices on the campaign trail.

Last month, the Department of Justice opened an investigation into soaring egg prices and are looking into whether large producers conspired to raise prices on everyday Americans.

The probe comes as egg prices hit a record high last month amid a bird flu outbreak, with the DOJ investigation now said to be exploring whether producers held back supplies.

Supermarkets across the nation have seen long lines of shoppers looking for the everyday grocery staple, with many stores forced to put a limit on how many cartons customers can buy at once.

His economic policies have caused his approval rating to tank, with a 14-point difference between his first and second time for the same time, the poll found.

More than half of Americans also disagree with tariffs – even at the 10 percent minimum.

Eighty percent fear the tariffs will increase goods prices and almost 50 percent think prices will raise significantly.

Trump originally announced worldwide 10 percent tariffs – and reciprocal tariffs on countries he said were ripping off the US – during a Rose Garden ceremony on April 2, which he dubbed ‘Liberation Day.’

He did not announce it at the beginning of April to ensure it was not mistaken for an April Fool’s joke.

Those tariffs went into effect this Wednesday at 12:01am.

But then mid-day Wednesday, Trump dramatically called off the reciprocal tariffs, keeping the 10 percent global tariffs in place, but also escalating his trade war with China.

The markets reacted positively on Wednesday but then took a downward turn on Thursday, once the reality set in that the global tariffs were here to stay for now.

Trump continued to cheer on his tariff policy Friday morning, amid his falling poll numbers.

‘We are doing really well on our TARIFF POLICY. Very exciting for America, and the World!!! It is moving along quickly,’ Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The president was expected to head to Walter Reed National Medical Center in Maryland for his annual physical Friday morning – before flying to Florida to spend another weekend at the ‘Winter White House,’ Mar-a-Lago.
