After a thrilling week of Champions League quarter-final action, a leading supercomputer has tipped Arsenal as the current favorites to win the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League — a bold twist in a season packed with surprises.
Arsenal, long considered outsiders in European competition, delivered a stunning performance on Tuesday night by defeating 15-time winners Real Madrid 3-0 at the Emirates.
Declan Rice led the charge with two sensational free-kick goals, before Mikel Merino added a third that left Carlo Ancelotti’s men shell-shocked and with a mountain to climb in the return leg.
According to Opta’s supercomputer, which ran 10,000 simulations based on current form and first-leg results, Arsenal now have a 27.8% chance of lifting the trophy in Munich — the highest among the remaining contenders.
They also boast a 52.9% probability of reaching the final, surpassing even Barcelona, who dominated Borussia Dortmund with a 4-0 win and are 99.5% likely to make the semi-finals.
While Barcelona are close behind Arsenal in overall title odds at 25.9%, it’s the Gunners who are now favored to go all the way.

The two clubs are on a potential collision course for a final showdown, possibly reviving memories of the 2006 Champions League final.
Paris Saint-Germain also made a statement this week, dazzling fans with an electrifying attacking display against English opposition.
Their cohesion and flair have earned them a 21.9% chance of winning their first-ever Champions League, placing them third in the predictive rankings.
Inter Milan, meanwhile, continue to fly under the radar. Their disciplined 2-1 away win at Bayern Munich has put them in a strong position with an 82.7% shot at the semi-finals, though the supercomputer still gives them a 19.8% chance of winning the title — the lowest among the four first-leg victors.
As for Real Madrid, their European hopes have taken a significant hit. After their collapse in north London, they now have just a 4.3% chance of advancing to the semi-finals, and only a 0.9% probability of claiming a record-extending 16th Champions League title.
Even Aston Villa, who suffered a setback in their own tie, have slightly lower odds at 0.8%, though they stand a better chance (8.5%) of overturning their first-leg deficit than Madrid.
With the return legs looming, Arsenal’s dream of European glory feels more tangible than ever — and the supercomputer agrees.
The Gunners have momentum, confidence, and now, the numbers on their side. All eyes are on Mikel Arteta’s men to see if they can turn predictions into history.
