Nollywood actress and producer Bimbo Ademoye has expressed outrage over the unauthorised use of her movie content by some YouTube channels.
In a post shared on her Instagram account, the award-winning actress described the act as intellectual property theft, citing the illegal use of her movie title and promotional poster.
She stated that the infringement had gone on for days and warned those involved to desist immediately.
Ademoye said she had discovered at least two YouTube channels using her content without permission, naming Nollynew Series TV and Nolly Specials.
The actress stressed that such actions would not go unpunished, as she is ready to take necessary steps to protect her work.
“Enough is enough!” she wrote. “I hate that I have to do this, but my blood, sweat, tears, hard work, money, sleepless nights will not be enjoyed by someone else.”
The visibly upset actress called on her fans and followers to report the channels, emphasising the unfairness of having her creativity exploited by others. “There are already two channels that have stolen my title and my poster for about two to three days now,” she said.
She further lamented the growing trend of online piracy affecting Nollywood productions. She narrated how a recent search for a film by fellow filmmaker Biodun Stephen returned more than 40 results using similar thumbnails and titles, reflecting a wider problem within the industry.
