A 24-year-old man, Shamsu Yakubu has been arrested by operatives of the Kano State Hisbah Board after a disturbing video surfaced online showing him appearing to perform an obscene act involving a goat.

Yakubu, a resident of Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area, was arrested  after a viral video on platforms like TikTok showed him positioning his mouth around the genital area of a goat while instructing someone off-camera to record the act.

He later confessed that his motive was to gain attention and go viral on social media.

The incident sparked outrage in the community, with angry residents threatening to take matters into their own hands before a local community leader reported the incident to the Hisbah Board, which swiftly took action.

During his interrogation, Yakubu denied licking the goat’s genitals, claiming instead that he only placed his mouth near the area. “I swear to Allah, I did not lick the goat’s genitals. I only put my mouth around the area,” he told officials.

He also insisted he was sober and mentally stable, and that it was his first time engaging in such behavior.

Reacting to the incident, Deputy Commander-General of the Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminuddeen Abubakar, expressed deep disappointment, stating that the act was not only immoral but also contradicted the teachings of Islam.

He said the suspect would undergo psychiatric and drug evaluations before any further steps are taken.

“It is unfortunate that a Muslim man would behave in such a shameful way just for social media fame,” Sheikh Aminuddeen said “This incident highlights a troubling trend among young people who seek online popularity through degrading behavior.”

The Hisbah Board also announced that the goat involved would be taken to a veterinary clinic for testing to determine if it had contracted any diseases from the suspect. Yakubu would also be tested accordingly before any prosecution.

In a warning to others, Sheikh Aminuddeen cautioned aspiring influencers against engaging in bizarre acts for online attention.

“Anyone caught engaging in indecent behavior, whether bathing in dirt or doing other disgraceful things for views and followers, will be arrested and prosecuted,” he stated.

The incident follows a similar recent case involving a man known as “Kabiru 2Pac,” who went viral after bathing in gutter water in a video that attracted hundreds of thousands of followers on TikTok, sparking a wave of copycat stunts.
