The 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, has commenced across Nigeria with candidates reporting a smooth process.

The exam, organised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board,JAMB, is being conducted in various Computer Based Test,CBT,centres and is scheduled to end on May 5.

A visit to centres in the Federal Capital Territory  showed that the exercise kicked off with minimal disruptions. At Sascon International School CBT centre, candidates described the process as seamless.

Emmanuel Ezegwu, who is retaking the exam, said this year’s experience was better. “This centre is better. I wrote this exam last year, but I can tell you that the experience this year is commendable,” he said.

Vitoria Bilala, an 18-year-old first-time candidate, also shared positive feedback. Although she initially experienced a minor technical issue, it was quickly resolved. “I felt nervous being my first time writing this exam, but I commend the way it was organised,” she said.

The centre supervisor, Emmanuel Adaji, disclosed that only 11 out of 200 candidates were absent. He urged candidates to arrive early and advised those coming from neighbouring states to consider arriving the day before their exam.

At Christ Academy International School, Gwagwalada, the examination went on without interruptions. Abdulrahman Salihu, who sat for the first batch by 6:30 a.m., said the systems functioned well and the atmosphere was calm.

Another candidate, Charity Danjuma, who is sitting for UTME for the fourth time, expressed hope of gaining admission this year.

At Future Gate Academy in Ado, Nasarawa State, Stephanie Okwori described the exam as “stress-free,” while Joseph Joshua praised the early start of biometric verification and the professionalism of invigilators.

However, at Bingham University, a candidate, Clara Ajayi, mentioned a slight delay in seating arrangements, although the exam itself went smoothly thereafter.

JAMB is conducting the UTME in three daily sessions across the country. Over two million candidates are expected to participate.
