The Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed June 27, 2025, for judgment in the contempt proceedings between Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Justice Binta Nyako set the date on Tuesday after hearing submissions from legal representatives involved in the suit. She said the court would first determine the contempt claims before addressing preliminary objections raised by all defendants, including Akpabio, who are challenging the court’s jurisdiction.
“I want to believe that all processes are in. What I am going to do is to first of all look at the issues of contempt and take a decision on it.

Then I will look at the notices of preliminary objection. If they succeed, that is the end of the case. If they don’t, I will look at the originating summons filed by the plaintiff,” Justice Nyako stated.
Akpoti-Uduaghan, the senator representing Kogi Central, was present in court for the proceedings.
Earlier, the court had scheduled May 13 for hearing on Akpabio’s contempt claims against Akpoti-Uduaghan, and the senator’s own contempt application against the Senate President and others for allegedly disobeying a previous court order.
Justice Nyako confirmed that all motions—including the contempt charges, preliminary objections, and the main originating summons—would be addressed together on the new judgment date.
