The Obidient Movement has firmly denied reports suggesting that Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, is part of any new political coalition or has accepted a vice-presidential offer from former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
This clarification was issued by Nana Kazaure, Director of Strategic Communication and Media for the movement, in a statement on Monday. Kazaure described the media speculations as false and baseless.
“Mr. Peter Obi remains in the Labour Party, and should there be any change, he will personally make such an announcement,” Kazaure said.
The statement follows a wave of public confusion after reports circulated that Obi had been offered the role of running mate in a proposed alliance for the 2027 general elections.

“While frank and cordial engagements with stakeholders and potential partners continue, we categorically state that there is no truth to claims that Mr. Obi has joined any coalition,” the Obidient Movement clarified.
According to the group, Obi’s coalition interests have always been grounded in principles of good governance, accountability, and social justice — not political expediency.
“Our focus is on ending bad governance, tackling hunger, corruption, poverty, and the pressing issues affecting Nigerians. Politics should serve the people, not personal ambition,” the statement added.
The movement urged the media to steer clear of sensationalism and prioritize accuracy, especially during such a critical time in the country’s democratic journey.
“All Nigerians, including the media, should channel efforts toward building a better nation,” Kazaure concluded.
