The Commandant of the Police College, Wudil, AIG Patrick Adedeji Atayero, and Directors of the Ministry of Police Affairs have signed a Performance Contract with the Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam.
The contract signing, held during the Sector-Wide Ministerial Performance Management System retreat at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja, is in line with directives from the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and the reform agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Anuma Ogbonnaya Nlia, Minister Gaidam described the event as a key milestone in institutionalising a results-oriented culture within the ministry. He emphasized that the performance contracts would guide appraisal systems through clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), measurable targets, and strategic milestones.
“Our role is vital in enhancing national security and promoting peace and prosperity in Nigeria,” Gaidam said. “Your performance directly impacts the ministry’s overall effectiveness. Excelling in your responsibilities strengthens our capacity to serve the Nigerian people.”
He issued a warning that neither individuals nor teams should hinder the progress of the Ministry. “Low performance can delay the delivery of key projects that address urgent national issues and are vital for economic growth,” he cautioned.
The Minister reaffirmed that under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the Ministry of Police Affairs plays a pivotal role in implementing Pillar 6 of the presidential priorities: strengthening national security for peace and prosperity.

The signing was witnessed by key officials, including the Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics, Dr. Osueke John Chidi, who highlighted the Performance Management System as essential for evaluating staff output, aligning operations with presidential mandates, and promoting transparency.
Professor Adeyemi Ajayi, the retreat facilitator, applauded the initiative, saying it reflects the ministry’s readiness to deliver on President Tinubu’s transformation goals. He emphasized the importance of accountability, warning that failure to meet contractual obligations would have consequences.

Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations, Bolaji O. Kazeem, who also participated in the retreat, reiterated that the Ministry’s embrace of a structured performance system will set the tone for other government institutions seeking to optimize their service delivery.
