The group stage match between Nigeria and Algeria is uncertain as CAF investigates alleged rule breaches by the Algerian women’s team at WAFCON 2024.

In a statement as reported by Morocco, the Confederation of African Football, CAF, has launched a formal investigation into possible rule breaches by the Algerian women’s national team during the ongoing tournament.

In an official statement, CAF announced:

“The Confédération Africaine de Football, CAF, has opened an investigation against the Algerian Women’s National Team on alleged violations of the CAF Statutes and Regulations during the ongoing TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2024.

“CAF will not make any further comment on the matter until the process is finalized.”

If Algeria is found guilty, potential penalties include heavy sanctions or even expulsion from the competition casting uncertainty over their scheduled clash with Nigeria.
