Purp — real name Anu Agosta — has emerged winner of Nigerian Idol Season 10, walking away with the grand prize of ₦30 million and a place in the hearts of millions of fans nationwide.

The 25-year-old singer from Lagos captivated both the judges and audience throughout the competition with her soulful, theatrical voice and emotionally gripping performances. Her journey from a modest background — singing in her mother’s church choir — to the Nigerian Idol spotlight has been a remarkable one.

A graduate of Dramatic Arts from Obafemi Awolowo University, Purp brought a unique blend of vocal power and stagecraft to the show, transforming each song into a story. Her ability to connect with lyrics and command the stage quickly made her a fan favorite.

In the electrifying finale, Purp and Raymu — the 28-year-old Irorosuayire Ogheneruemu from Delta State — battled for the crown after outlasting other strong contenders in what was one of the show’s most competitive seasons yet.

While Raymu secured the first runner-up position, he delivered memorable performances throughout the season, showcasing a versatile range and emotional depth that earned him respect from the judges and fans alike.

The top four had earlier included Lawrence and Mikki, who exited in a moving double elimination in the semi-final episode, leaving the stage set for a powerful final showdown.

Hosted by the ever-energetic IK Osakioduwa, the finale was more than just a competition. It featured dazzling group performances by all the season’s contestants and a surprise musical set by judges Ric Hassani, Iyanya, and Omawumi, who praised the finalists for raising the bar in vocal talent and performance creativity.

“This season, we didn’t just hear singers; we witnessed storytellers,” said Judge Omawumi, applauding Purp’s artistry. Ric Hassani added, “Every week, Purp reminded us why music is a force that connects people emotionally.”

Nigerian Idol Season 10 has been lauded as one of the most exciting editions yet, drawing widespread viewership and sparking conversations on social media throughout its run.

Fans across the country followed each contestant’s journey closely, voting in record numbers and celebrating Nigeria’s diverse musical talents.

With her win, Purp not only takes home the ₦30 million prize but also secures a career-launching platform that promises recording deals, endorsements, and live performance opportunities. The future looks bright for the emerging star.

In her brief acceptance speech, Purp said, “This is more than a win for me — it’s a dream fulfilled. I’m grateful to God, my family, the judges, my fellow contestants, and everyone who voted. This is just the beginning.”
