The 2025 edition, held in London, featured participants from 69 countries, making it one of the most competitive in recent years. Students were tested not only on their mastery of English but also on their ability to think critically, communicate effectively, and showcase creativity in different academic tasks.

Nigeria’s team, made up of Nafisa Abdullahi, Rukaiya Fema, and Khadija Kalli, emerged among the global winners, drawing attention to the country’s growing presence in international educational contests.

Their victories attracted commendations from both the Federal Government and the Atiku Abubakar Foundation, AAF, with the latter offering fully funded scholarships to the champions. The AAF described their achievements as a “remarkable success” and proof that Nigerian youths can thrive on the world stage when given the right opportunities.

In a letter which was obtained by Punch Online dated, August 5, 2025, and signed by Prof. Ahmadu Shehu, the Acting Secretary of the AAF, the Foundation wrote, “The Atiku Abubakar Foundation is delighted to learn of your outstanding performance at the TeenEagle Global Finals, where you emerged as global winners in various categories of the competition.”

Nafisha, 17-year-old, stood out for her command of the English language, critical thinking, and articulation, skills that propelled her to win against participants from 69 countries.

The competition, established to encourage global learning exchange, has produced outstanding alumni who have gone on to excel in academia, leadership, and creative industries worldwide.
