Guinness World Records has officially confirmed Hilda Baci’s feat: the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, weighing 8,780 kg (19,356 lb 9 oz).
The milestone was reached on September 12, 2025, during the Gino World Jollof Festival at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The event, hosted in collaboration with food brand Gino, drew thousands of attendees and became a cultural celebration.
Baci, already a household name after her 2023 triumph in the longest cooking marathon, has once again cemented her place among Nigeria’s most celebrated culinary icons.
To achieve this record, a specially built steel pot was used, measuring about six metres wide and over one metre deep.
Massive quantities of ingredients went into the effort: hundreds of bags of rice, cartons of tomato paste, litres of oil, and baskets of onions.
The result was not just a world record but also a feast that fed over 20,000 people at the venue and beyond.
The festival attracted a star-studded crowd, with prominent figures like actress Funke Akindele, content creator Enioluwa Adeoluwa, media personality Tomike Adeoye, Pastor Idowu, and Bamidele Abiodun, wife of the Ogun State Governor, all present to cheer Baci on.

Online, the achievement sparked a wave of admiration and humour. One user wrote: “Wow! Nice one.
Congratulations Hilda. Next idea, make a record-breaking fufu.”
Another questioned: “Why don’t they acknowledge her team?”
while others were more curious about the taste of the massive dish.
Another commenter expressed pride, calling Baci “a beautiful, successful, smart woman breaking records… a role model.”
Amid the celebration, one attendee jokingly gave themselves credit for “overseeing and managing the event all through,” highlighting the lighthearted mood the festival inspired.
For many Nigerians, Baci’s achievement represents more than just food—it is a symbol of resilience, innovation, and cultural pride.
By blending tradition with ambition, she has turned jollof rice, a beloved West African staple, into a global headline.
