President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Al’amin Muhammed Idris, the Chief Executive Officer of Interface Africa, for emerging winner of the NextGen Innovation Challenge, a national competition celebrating groundbreaking ideas by Nigerian innovators.
Interface Africa, representing Kaduna State, clinched the top prize of £1.5 million at the grand finale held on Thursday at the Hilton London Paddington, marking a major achievement for Nigeria’s growing innovation and technology ecosystem.
The NextGen Innovation Challenge, an initiative spearheaded by the National Board for Technology Incubation in partnership with UKALD London, was inspired by President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The competition aims to harness and empower the creative potential of young Nigerians through sustainable, tech-driven solutions that improve livelihoods.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu commended Interface Africa for its outstanding contribution to clean energy innovation.
The company’s project, focused on providing affordable solar financing to small businesses across Africa, stood out among over 100 other entries for its impact-driven approach and scalability.
The President praised the initiative for aligning with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes youth empowerment, technological advancement, and inclusive economic growth.

“Interface Africa’s innovation represents the very spirit of our Renewed Hope vision — one that empowers our young people to become problem-solvers and global leaders in innovation. The company’s mission to expand access to clean and affordable energy in underserved communities is a testament to the power of creativity and determination,” the statement read.
President Tinubu expressed confidence in the limitless potential of Nigerian youths, emphasizing that his administration remains committed to creating an enabling environment for innovation, research, and entrepreneurship.
He also congratulated the other 104 participants of the NextGen Innovation Challenge for their creativity and resilience, urging them to continue developing solutions that improve lives, create jobs, and contribute to global progress.
“The innovative capacity of our youth is boundless. We are deliberately implementing policies to harness and catalyse this vital resource for national development,” President Tinubu said.
The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting innovation hubs, incubation programs, and digital economy initiatives that drive Nigeria’s competitiveness in the global technology space.
