The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, has inaugurated a newly constructed pediatric ward and a renovated general ward at the Gwagwarwa Comprehensive Clinic and Maternity Centre in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

This is contained in a statement by the Director, Public Relations and Information, NAF, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, on Friday in Abuja.

Ejodame said the projects were executed under the Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar’s Special Intervention Quick Impact Projects, QIP, initiative, in honor of AVM Kabir Umar.

He said the intervention involved the completion, furnishing and equipping of the pediatric ward as well as a full renovation of the general ward with solar lighting, 20 hospital beds.

The protects, he said, also included modern medical equipment such as oxygen concentrators, radiant warmers and pulse oximeters.

The statement quoted the CAS, as saying the initiative was part of NAF’s non-kinetic efforts to strengthen ties with host communities and improve their wellbeing.

Abubakar was represented by the Chief of Civil-Military Relations, AVM Ibikunle Daramola.

He urged residents to take ownership of the facility and support security agencies with timely information to sustain peace.

The CAS also reaffirmed NAF’s commitment to community-driven projects that enhance quality of life and strengthen public trust.

“This project reflects our belief that national security is best sustained through cooperation and mutual trust between the military and the people we serve,” Abubakar said in the statement.

Gov. Abba Yusuf, represented by his Special Adviser on Special Intervention Programmes, Dr Balarabe Gaya, commended NAF for its people-oriented initiatives and partnership in advancing healthcare delivery.

“This project brings renewed hope to our people and complements our administration’s efforts to make quality healthcare accessible to all,” he said.

The project facilitator, AVM Umar described the intervention as a transformation of a long-standing challenge into a beacon of hope.

He noted that the new wards named Mukhtar Memorial Ward, was to honor his late father, Alhaji Mukhtar Umar, the clinic’s pioneer dispenser in the 1960s.
