The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reached a landmark in Nigeria’s energy sector with a combined daily production of 70 million litres of petrol and diesel.
This feat has surpassed the country’s domestic demand and strengthening hopes for fuel stability nationwide.
The refinery recently achieved a historic production milestone, hitting a combined daily output of 70 million litres of petrol and diesel — 45 million litres of petrol and 25 million litres of diesel. This volume surpasses Nigeria’s domestic fuel needs, marking a major leap toward national energy independence.
Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, stated that the achievement reflects Dangote’s determination to stabilize local fuel supply, strengthen the naira, and position Nigeria as a future exporter of refined petroleum products within Africa.
He explained that the refinery’s operations are driven by a broader mission — to safeguard national energy security, reduce foreign dependency, and ensure macroeconomic stability through domestic refining.
Chiejina further highlighted that local production not only cuts down foreign exchange outflows but also drives industrial growth, job creation, and increased economic activity across sectors.
Dangote Petroleum Refinery is central to Nigeria’s energy ambitions and to Africa’s collective effort toward self-sufficiency in petroleum production. With cutting-edge refining technology and an output that exceeds local demand, the company is now set to export refined products to other African nations — gradually dismantling the continent’s long-standing reliance on foreign imports.

President of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, assured Nigerians that fuel prices will remain stable till the end of the year.
He reaffirmed his company’s commitment to steady supply and fair pricing, adding that consistent production will not only stabilize the market but also contribute to strengthening the nation’s currency.
Industry experts say the refinery’s success could reshape Africa’s energy ecosystem, turning Nigeria into a net exporter of refined petroleum products for the first time in decades.
They note that sustained output at this scale could redefine regional trade flows, boost investor confidence, and promote intra-African energy cooperation.
Beyond refining, Dangote is building an extensive distribution network across Nigeria, supported by a modern fleet of Compressed Natural Gas,CNG,-powered trucks. This approach, experts observe, will ensure cost-effective fuel delivery, lower emissions, and promote environmental sustainability.
The CNG initiative underscores Dangote’s long-term vision of integrating cleaner technology into logistics and transport. It represents a sustainable model for large-scale refining and distribution — combining efficiency, innovation, and environmental responsibility.
With its 70 million-litre daily output, efficient logistics model, and commitment to fair pricing, Dangote Petroleum Refinery is redefining Nigeria’s energy future and positioning Africa for a new era of stability, independence, and growth in the petroleum sector.
