The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPC, Ltd. have deepened their collaboration to enhance the security of Nigeria’s critical oil and gas infrastructure. This renewed partnership was affirmed during a courtesy visit by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, to the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC, Bayo Ojulari, in Abuja.

The Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.

Aneke noted that safeguarding pipelines, flow stations, offshore platforms and other strategic energy assets remains central to Nigeria’s economic stability and aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He reaffirmed the Air Force’s commitment to supporting NNPC in combating oil theft, protecting investments and improving national revenue.

According to him, enhanced synergy among security agencies has already contributed to a decline in crude oil theft. He added that the NAF was scaling up intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations to track and neutralise emerging threats across the sector.

The CAS also pointed to the Air Force’s strengthened maritime security operations, stressing that aligning its activities with NNPC’s operational priorities would help ensure uninterrupted energy supply and increased production efficiency.

Aneke pledged the NAF’s continued support in protecting national energy resources and dismantling criminal networks undermining the country’s oil and gas industry.

In his remarks, the NNPC GCEO, Bayo Ojulari, commended the NAF for its consistent support, stating that the renewed collaboration was essential for boosting energy security, stabilising production and improving safety across operational sites. He assured that NNPC would expand joint efforts through enhanced intelligence sharing, coordinated planning and the deployment of advanced security technologies across vulnerable infrastructure.
