Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has appealed to employers across the state not to reject corps members posted to their establishments.
He made the appeal on Tuesday during the closing ceremony of the National Youth Service Corps,NYSC, Batch C, Stream 1 orientation course held at the Issele-Uku camp. The governor was represented by the Commissioner for Special Projects, Mr Funyei Manager.
Oborevwori urged employers to create a conducive environment that would enable corps members to contribute meaningfully to the development of both the state and the nation.
He also reminded corps members of the need to accept their postings without resistance, especially to rural communities where their services are most needed.
“These communities need your service the most,” he said, stressing that national service can only thrive when corps members embrace their deployment with willingness and patriotism.
He encouraged the corps members to approach their service year with commitment, explaining that such an attitude would enrich their personal experience while enabling the nation to gain maximum value from their contribution.
The governor added that the orientation course had provided a firm foundation for the rest of the NYSC programme, equipping participants with knowledge and skills vital for their primary assignments.
