The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has raised a public alert over the recall of Indomie Vegetable Flavour Noodles following the discovery of undeclared milk and egg allergens that could pose serious health risks to consumers with allergies or intolerances.

The recall, announced in Public Alert No. 041/2025 dated December 18, followed a notification issued by Rappel Conso of France, the country’s food safety authority, after laboratory analysis confirmed the presence of milk and eggs not declared on the product label.

NAFDAC said the recall affects all batches of the Indomie Vegetable Flavour noodles with a best-before date of February 6, next year.

The agency added that the recall notice did not state the country of origin of the product.

In a statement, NAFDAC informed the public that the French food safety authority had flagged the product over the undeclared allergens, warning that their presence could trigger severe allergic reactions in sensitive individuals.

While noting that the risk of the affected product entering Nigeria remains low due to the Federal Government’s ban on noodle importation, the agency stressed the need for heightened vigilance to prevent possible illegal entry or circulation.

NAFDAC described the product as a widely consumed household food in m Profany countries because of its affordability, convenience, and versatility, but cautioned that the undisclosed milk and egg components make it potentially dangerous for vulnerable consumers.

To mitigate any risk, the agency said it has activated nationwide vigilance measures. All zonal directors and state coordinators have been directed to intensify surveillance and immediately seize and remove the recalled product from circulation if found anywhere in the country.

The agency warned that access to the product through online purchases or international travel cannot be completely ruled out, prompting the need for strict monitoring across supply chains.

Distributors, retailers, and consumers were advised to remain cautious and ensure the recalled foreign brand of Indomie noodles is neither sold nor consumed in Nigeria. Consumers who encounter the product have been urged to discard it immediately.

NAFDAC also called on members of the public to report any sightings or suspected sales of the recalled noodles to the nearest NAFDAC office or through its toll-free line, 0800-162-3322.

The agency added that any adverse reactions linked to the product should be reported through NAFDAC offices or via the e-reporting platforms available on its official website.
