The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Senator George Akume, has married Queen Zaynab Ngohemba, the former wife of the Ooni of Ife, marking a significant personal milestone for the senior government official.
The marriage became public knowledge on Friday following a celebratory post on Facebook by Abraham Double-d Dajoh, a member of the Dajoh family.
In the post, the family announced that Queen Zaynab had been formally welcomed into the Dajoh family home in Mbakor, Benue State, during the month of December.
Describing the union as “beautiful” and “uncommon,” members of the Dajoh family expressed their collective joy over the addition of the former Olori of the Ife Kingdom into their lineage.
The announcement quickly gained traction on social media, drawing widespread attention from political, cultural and social circles across the country.
In the widely shared statement, the family publicly welcomed Queen Zaynab as the wife of Senator Akume, noting her new identity as Queen Zaynab Ngohemba-George Akume Dajoh.
They extended warm appreciation to supporters and associates of the SGF, encouraging them to continue their loyalty and goodwill toward him as he embarks on this new chapter of his life.
The statement also highlighted the importance of the family’s ancestral heritage in Mbakor, stressing the cultural significance attached to the formal reception of a new wife into the Dajoh dynasty.

Images accompanying the announcement showed family members celebrating and honouring Queen Zaynab in what was described as a deeply traditional and respectful welcome.
Queen Zaynab was previously known as Olori Wuraola during her 17-month marriage to the Ooni of Ife, which ended in 2017.
Since then, she has remained a prominent public figure, known for humanitarian engagements and social advocacy.
The announcement coincided with the Christmas season, as the family used the opportunity to extend festive greetings to Nigerians, wishing them a joyful Christmas celebration and a prosperous New Year.
Reacting to public interest surrounding the development, Akume’s spokesman, Yomi Odunuga, confirmed the marriage in a telephone conversation on Friday.
He clarified that while the union recently drew attention after the couple appeared together at a Christmas event in Gboko, the marriage itself is not new.
Odunuga stated that the couple has been married for over a year, dismissing claims that the wedding took place on Christmas Eve.
Senator Akume, a former Governor of Benue State, currently serves as SGF in President Bola Tinubu’s administration. His marriage to Queen Zaynab has since become a major topic of discussion nationwide.
