Dr Bashir Bolarinwa has reaffirmed his commitment to confronting the security challenges facing Kwara when elected the State Governor in the 2027 general elections.

Bolarinwa, a front-line governorship aspirant under the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, restated this in Abuja on Saturday while submitting his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to the APC executives.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports, the submission of the forms is a significant step that formally signals the commencement of the aspirant’s electoral campaign for the governorship of Kwara.

Bolarinwa reiterated that, restoring peace, strengthening public safety and protecting lives and property would remain central to his vision for a safer, more secure and prosperous Kwara.

“It is my wish, by the grace of God, to enhance the quality of life, health and making our people to be better than the way the situation is.

“Most importantly, the issue of insecurity that has taken over the entire State – the Kwara North, the Kwara South, where I come from – most of the places are now deserted.

“There are so many humanitarian crisis as a result of bandit attacks.

“This is one area which must be tackled head-on and I want to say that it is going to be one of the things that will top our agenda,” he said.

The APC aspirant, who formally declared his intention to run for governor on April 28, 2026 in Ilorin, also emphasised that the provision of social services remained fundamental in improving the quality of life of the people.

He noted that access to quality health, education and social welfare and other essential public services would receive priority attention under his leadership.

According to him, governance must translate into tangible benefits of the citizens, especially in areas that directly affect their daily lives and well-being.

He said when entrusted with the mandate at the governorship election, his administration would be guided by a people-centred vision focused on expanding opportunities and delivering responsive services that would uplift communities across the state.

“All other things that are necessary to make life better for the people of the state will also be attended to especially agriculture, education and health services.

“I am assuring the people of Kwara that things will be better than what it is,” he said.

Bolarinwa expressed confidence in his chances of emerging as the next governor of Kwara State.

“I am not just contesting, I pray and wish that I will be the one that will succeed the incumbent governor Malam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, who has done his bit and who is continuing to do a good work for the state,” he said.

Bolarinwa was accompanied by the executives of the Egbe Omo Igbomina FCT Chapter to the submission of the forms to the National Organising Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Sulaiman Mohammed Argungu.

NAN reports that the aspirant’s career is defined by hands-on governance and policy engagement, starting with his tenure as Councillor and then two-term Chairman of the Lagos Mainland Local Government, and later as a two-term member of the House of Representatives.
