Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, says the teachings and virtues of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, SAW, can help Nigeria address its challenges and strengthen peace, unity and national cohesion.

Yilwatda made the remarks in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria by his Senior Special Assistant, Malam Yusuf Dingyadi, in Sokoto, as Muslims across the country commemorated the 1448 Eid-ul-Maulud.

“As Muslims across Nigeria and around the world commemorate the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, SAW, I wish to extend my warmest felicitations to all on this occasion,” he said.

The APC chairman said the celebration was an opportunity to reflect on the values exemplified by the Prophet, particularly at a challenging period in Nigeria’s national journey.

He urged Nigerians to regard the country’s diversity as a source of strength rather than weakness, especially as the nation approaches another electoral season.

“As we approach another electoral season, we must reject division, intolerance and violence. No political contest should destroy the bonds of brotherhood and national unity that bind us together,” Yilwatda advised.

He also called on the Muslim Ummah to use the occasion to pray for lasting peace, security and prosperity, as well as wisdom for the nation’s leaders. “In spite of our challenges, Nigeria remains a nation of immense talent, resilience and promise,” he said.

Yilwatda prayed for the acceptance of Nigerians’ supplications and urged Almighty Allah to grant the country’s leaders the wisdom and courage needed to lead Nigeria to the promised land. “I wish the Muslim Ummah and all Nigerians a peaceful, joyful and spiritually rewarding Eid-ul-Maulud,” he said.

NAN recalls that the Federal Government declared Tuesday a public holiday to commemorate the 1448 Eid-ul-Maulud celebration across the country.
