The Federal Road Safety Corps,FRSC, Kaduna State Sector Command, on Monday commenced the 2025 Operation Zero-Tolerance with the deployment of 1,470 personnel across the state to enhance road safety during the festive season.
The Sector Commander, Mr Tijjani Iliyasu, inaugurated the operation during a briefing of officers and men of the command in Kaduna, describing it as an intensive end-of-year safety exercise designed to curb road traffic crashes, injuries and fatalities associated with increased vehicular movement during the yuletide.
The operation, which began on Monday, will run until January 15, next year. It involves the deployment of 1,470 regular FRSC personnel and 401 Special Marshals, supported by 30 patrol vehicles and two motorcycles.
Also deployed are two heavy-duty tow trucks, one carrier tow truck, 10 ambulances and drones to strengthen traffic surveillance on major highways and critical corridors across Kaduna State.
Iliyasu stressed that the success of the exercise depends largely on the professionalism of personnel, urging officers to discharge their duties responsibly and shun any conduct capable of tarnishing the image of the corps.
He said the operation would focus on strict enforcement of key traffic offences, including non-use of passenger manifest, dangerous driving and overtaking, excessive speeding, tyre violations, use of mobile phones while driving, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and failure to use seat belts.
Other areas of enforcement include lane indiscipline, route violations, overloading of goods and passengers, and other traffic infractions that pose risks to road safety.

To strengthen compliance, the sector commander noted that periodic mobile court sittings, sustained enforcement and aggressive public enlightenment campaigns would be carried out throughout the operation to encourage voluntary adherence to traffic regulations.
He added that traffic camps and help areas had been activated at Rigachikun, Kwanan Farakwai, Birnin Yero and Gonin Gora to manage traffic congestion and ensure quick response to road traffic crashes.
In addition, roadside clinics have been fully equipped with trained personnel and medical consumables to treat minor injuries sustained by crash victims and residents of surrounding communities.
Iliyasu appealed to road users to obey traffic rules and take advantage of the FRSC’s emergency and information platforms, including the 122 toll-free emergency line and National Traffic Radio 107.1 FM, Abuja, for timely road advisories.
He also highlighted the availability of the FRSC mobile application for speed monitoring, identification of accident-prone locations and reporting of traffic offenders.
The sector commander extended Christmas and New Year goodwill messages to residents of Kaduna State and reassured them of the FRSC’s commitment to ensuring safer roads throughout the festive period.
