The 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, AMVCA, took the center stage in Lagos on Saturday drawing stars from across Africa in a celebration of the best in film and television.
Lateef Adedimeji’s critically acclaimed historical drama, Lisabi: The Uprising, emerged as one of the evening’s most celebrated productions, clinching the Best Indigenous Language (West Africa) award.
Though Adedimeji was nominated in the Best Lead Actor category, the award went to Femi Adebayo for his role in Seven Doors.
The night featured a wide array of winners from various categories, with Seven Doors also scooping Best Music/Score (Tolu Obanro) and Best Lead Actress (Chioma Chukwuka), cementing its status as a fan and jury favorite.
South African filmmaker Leo Purman won Best Cinematography for The Legend of the Vagabond (Queen of Lagos), while Mai DùnDún – Ifeoluwa won Best Documentary.

Online comedy and skit creator Iyo Prosper Adokiye was crowned Best Digital Content Creator, highlighting the AMVCA’s continued recognition of digital platforms and content innovation.
In the short film category, Brukaci stood out as the Best Short Film, and Nigerian Idol (Season 9) won the Best Unscripted M-Net Original, with Kassim Suleiman receiving special recognition.
Kayode Kasum received the prestigious Trailblazer Award, while veterans Nkem Owoh (‘Osuofia’) and Sani Mu’azu were honored with the Industry Merit Award for their enduring contributions to African cinema.
