A refugee center in central Hesse, Limburg town, Germany, experienced a fire that resulted in injuries to at least five people and significant damage to beds.
The incident prompted a response from the police, who were called to the center around 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
Approximately 95 people were safely evacuated from the refugee center during the emergency response. However, the beds at the facility suffered substantial damage, estimated to be worth €150,000 (approximately $164,000), according to investigators.
The police confirmed that the accommodation at the refugee center is no longer habitable, and an assessment of the extent of the damage is underway.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and investigations are ongoing to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident.
As a result of the fire, the immediate concern is providing alternative housing for the affected refugees. The authorities are working to determine suitable arrangements for the displaced individuals, ensuring their safety and well-being following the incident.
