The Ondo State Government has announced that 10,000 nurses and midwives from the South-West region will benefit from professional kits provided by the Renewed Hope Initiative, a pet project spearheaded by the First Lady, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu.
Mrs. Seun Osamaye, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Affairs and Mobilisation, shared this information during a press conference in Akure on Wednesday.
Osamaye explained that Mrs. Tinubu will be in Ondo State from April 17 to 18 to personally oversee the distribution of the kits.
The event will serve as part of a broader initiative aimed at reducing maternal and child mortality across the country.
Osamaye further emphasized that the First Lady’s visit will not only address healthcare concerns but will also extend to women involved in the textile industry, with 200 beneficiaries receiving support.
She pointed out that women from across the six states of the South-West—Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, and Ondo—would be selected for these programs without political affiliation, ensuring that the support is inclusive and broad-reaching.
Additionally, Osamaye highlighted that the First Lady’s initiative encompasses various support programs beyond healthcare and textile production. For instance, educational support is provided to students, including cash and help allowances.

There is also a focus on youth empowerment, where young people, especially in secondary and primary schools, are being encouraged to join agricultural initiatives such as the Young Farmers’ Club. Over 1,000 individuals have already benefited from cash grants, training, and other empowerment opportunities.
The Special Adviser made it clear that these initiatives, including scholarship programs for students with disabilities, are open to both indigenes and residents of the state, irrespective of political affiliation.
The objective, Osamaye stressed, is to ensure that every eligible person has access to the resources and support they need without any political barriers.
As the First Lady prepares for her visit, Osamaye reassured the public about security arrangements, urging residents to come out and welcome Mrs. Tinubu.
The state government remains committed to ensuring that these initiatives continue to have a positive impact on the lives of women, youth, and students across Ondo State and beyond.
