Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, a former Secretary to the Kano State Government, has leveled serious accusations against the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf alleging large-scale corruption and mismanagement.
In a recently circulated video, Bichi claimed that more infractions have occurred under the current government within two years than during the eight-year tenure of former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
He described the scale of alleged wrongdoing as “alarming,” asserting it significantly surpasses that of the previous administration.
Bichi’s remarks come shortly after his defection to the All Progressives Congress, APC, along with 14 others.
While his exit from the government had previously been attributed to health concerns, observers have speculated that political disagreements—possibly with Governor Yusuf’s ally and mentor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso—may have also played a role.

In response, Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, dismissed the allegations.
He described Bichi’s claims as unfounded and lacking evidence, insisting they were politically motivated and designed to mislead the public.
The state government reiterated its commitment to transparency and accountability and accused critics of attempting to destabilize the administration for personal or political gain.
The accusations and denials come amid increasing political activity in Kano as the state prepares for future elections.
