Matthijs de Ligt’s stoppage-time header rescued a 2-2 draw for Manchester United against Tottenham Hotspur in a thrilling Premier League clash on Saturday.
Spurs appeared to have snatched all three points after a late comeback that saw Mathys Tel equalize before Richarlison powered home a 91st-minute header. But United had the final say when De Ligt rose highest to meet Bruno Fernandes’ corner, levelling the game in the 96th minute and extending the Red Devils’ unbeaten run to five matches.
Both sides now sit on 18 points after 11 games, with Tottenham in third place on goal difference and United seventh.
United’s inability to beat Spurs continues it’s now eight straight meetings without a win but this latest encounter will be remembered as one of the most dramatic in recent history between the two clubs.
Spurs, fresh off their Europa League triumph in May that ended a 17-year trophy drought, had looked set to claim another statement win under manager Thomas Frank. Yet, once again, late defensive lapses cost them dearly.
Bryan Mbeumo continued his fine form for United, heading home from Amad Diallo’s cross in the 32nd minute to open the scoring. The £65 million summer signing from Brentford and Premier League’s October Player of the Month has now netted four goals in his last four games.

After a lacklustre first half, Tottenham improved after the break. Senne Lammens denied Cristian Romero and Joao Palhinha with sharp saves before Brennan Johnson saw a goal ruled out for offside.
Manager Thomas Frank’s substitutions eventually turned the tide. Destiny Udogie set up Mathys Tel for a deflected equalizer before Richarlison sent the home crowd into ecstasy with a flicked finish from Wilson Odobert’s curling shot.
But the joy was short-lived. In the final seconds, De Ligt found space at the far post to thunder a header beyond Guglielmo Vicario, ensuring both sides shared the spoils in a pulsating finish.
The result leaves Spurs still searching for their first home league win since the opening weekend, while United continue to build momentum under Ruben Amorim.
