Chelsea strengthened their Premier League title challenge on Saturday with a determined 2–0 victory over struggling Burnley at Turf Moor.
Pedro Neto struck shortly before halftime, and Enzo Fernández sealed the win late on to move Enzo Maresca’s side up to second place three points behind leaders Arsenal, who face Tottenham on Sunday.
The win marks Chelsea’s eighth victory in ten matches across all competitions, arriving on the manager’s 50th Premier League game in charge. It also serves as a timely boost ahead of a crucial week featuring a home Champions League clash with Barcelona on Tuesday and a league showdown with Arsenal on November 30.
Chelsea could slip back to third if Manchester City avoid defeat against Newcastle later on Saturday, but their gritty performance in freezing conditions maintained their momentum.

“It’s tough after the international break 12:30, Burnley away is always hard,” Maresca said. “But the way we competed, I’m very happy. To come here and not concede is very difficult.”
Burnley, who have lost five of their last seven league fixtures, struggled to test Chelsea despite a few half-chances.
Chelsea were without Cole Palmer, who fractured a toe after recently returning from injury, while Moises Caicedo started on the bench following late international duty.
After surviving an early scare when goalkeeper Robert Sanchez accidentally struck Fernández in the head with a clearance, Chelsea settled into control. Neto and Jamie Gittens both went close before a well-crafted move broke the deadlock in the 37th minute.
Marc Cucurella cushioned a high ball inside the area and laid it off to Gittens, who sent a lofted cross to the back post, where Neto powered a diving header into the far corner for his fourth goal of the season.
Chelsea continued to threaten after the interval, with Neto hitting the post and Gittens flashing an effort just wide. Burnley’s best chance came when Zian Flemming blazed over from close range.
Fernández eventually wrapped up the result in the 88th minute, finishing a flowing move from close range after being set up by Marc Guiu.
The victory keeps Chelsea firmly in the title conversation as they head into a decisive week of fixtures.
