National Security Adviser, NSA, Nuhu Ribadu, on Monday visited Kontagora, Niger State, where he met with parents and church leaders following the abduction of pupils from St. Mary’s Private Catholic School, Papiri.
During the meeting at St. Michael’s Catholic Cathedral, Ribadu conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s message of solidarity, reassuring families that the Federal Government is committed to rescuing the children and returning them safely.
“This is a painful period for all of us,” Ribadu told the parents after listening to their concerns. “But I want to assure you: we will rescue your children. The President is deeply concerned and has directed that everything necessary must be done.”
He disclosed that President Tinubu had suspended official engagements, including a scheduled trip, to focus on the situation, adding that the government takes full responsibility for improving security in the affected area.
Ribadu also revealed that Nigeria is receiving technical support from international partners, including the United States, France, and the United Kingdom, to aid the rescue operations. He emphasized that efforts will not slow down, praising Bishop Bulus Yohanna for his resilience during the crisis.

“The whole world stands with us. This evil will not prevail. Your children will come back safely. That is our solemn promise,” he said.
The NSA was accompanied by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Bernard Doro; Director-General of the Department of State Services Oluwatosin Ajayi; and the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (Northern Region), Joseph Hayab.
Earlier, Bishop Yohanna thanked the Federal Government for the visit, saying it restored hope among distressed families. A brief closed-door session followed, where church authorities presented their report on the incident, while school officials and parents recounted how the abduction occurred and the emotional toll on the community.
