Kwara State University, KWASU, at Malete has officially matriculated 13,602 new students for the 2024/2025 academic session.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Shayk-Luqman Jimoh, at the matriculation ceremony held on Thursday at the university’s campus in Malete, disclosed that 25,946 candidates applied for admission into various academic programmes for the 2024/2025 session.

He highlighted the historic significance of the event, noting that it marked the university’s first set of students admitted into 10 newly accredited programmes, including Mining Engineering, Cybersecurity, Criminology and Security Studies, and Human Anatomy.

The Vice Chancellor urged the fresh students to seize the opportunities available at KWASU, including cutting-edge learning resources, to advance their academic careers.

“Your admission into KWASU presents you with the chance to leverage the abundant human and physical resources of the university,” he said. “This ceremony not only marks a new chapter for our students but also demonstrates KWASU’s commitment to providing high-quality education and advancing knowledge.”

Prof. Jimoh emphasized KWASU’s longstanding tradition of nurturing leaders and change-makers who positively impact society.

He encouraged the new students to write their own success stories and contribute meaningfully to the world.

Reiterating the university’s commitment to academic excellence, the Vice Chancellor reminded the students of the institution’s strict stance on discipline.

He warned that any form of indiscipline, including examination malpractices, cultism, cybercrime, drug abuse, and indecent dressing, would not be tolerated.

“The university will take swift action against any student found guilty of such misconduct,” he cautioned.
